The Home Wilding Hat is dark green with soft pink lettering, reflecting the avocado pips we collected and the tubs we used to collect them in from cafes before nurturing them into new life. Made from organic cotton, it comes with a mini avocado patch you can place anywhere—because this project is about making nature part of everyday life.
 
During lockdown, Home Wilding showed that even small actions at home can reconnect us to nature. Over six months, we collected 4,000+ discarded avocado pips from partner cafes in Sheffield and Rotherham and turned them into thriving indoor plants. It wasn’t just about growing plants—it was about growing connection, wellbeing, and hope when the outdoors felt out of reach.
 
This hat is a wearable reminder that caring for the planet can start at home. Every stitch represents the creativity, patience, and love people put into turning food waste into living green spaces.
