Project Proposed Impact
Project Summary:
Rewild the Rubbish is more than a litter-picking project — it’s a movement to rewild lives, not just landscapes. Together, we’re protecting wildlife, restoring natural spaces, and proving that small, everyday actions can create massive collective change.

This Included:
Anyone can take part — whether picking litter on their own walk or joining one of our 17 Where Friends Grow club locations for a social Do Good Day. Across all our clubs and beyond, volunteers will take part in local litter-picking socials that bring together community, connection, and conservation.
Each participant will collect and log the waste they remove, with a shared goal: to gather over 2,000 pieces of litter and give nature a chance to breathe again. We often think about plastic in the ocean — but the land impact is just as serious.
This project isn’t just about cleaning up — it’s about showing up. For our planet. For each other. For a future where no plant — or person — is left behind. Why It Matters
Litter might seem small, but its impact is huge:
A single plastic bottle can take up to 450 years to decompose, often breaking down into microplastics that harm soil and wildlife.
Cigarette butts, the world’s most common litter item, release toxins into the ground that can poison insects, birds, and small mammals.
In the UK, it’s estimated that more than 2 million pieces of litter are dropped every single day.
Globally, littered waste is one of the leading causes of habitat degradation, reducing biodiversity and threatening over 100,000 land animals each year through entanglement or ingestion.
The Story behind the Seeds:

Everyday Nature Collection
We make rewilding part of daily life. Litter-picking becomes a simple act of reconnection — a reminder that caring for nature can happen anywhere, anytime.

Grassroot Action
This project is led by three women driven by change — Charlie, Amy, and Eleanor — proving that action speaks louder than permission. Every bag of litter collected is a statement of hope and ownership.

Youth Led Change
Our litter-picking socials turn clean-ups into moments of togetherness — where friendship, purpose, and nature meet.

Deep Human Connection
